Design is NewPaakkola’s strength
Did you know that one of NewPaakkola’s greatest strengths is its in-house design department, which is often overshadowed by its conveyor system manufacturing?
“Design is the foundation of everything. We have 10–20 professionals working in design at all times, and at the moment we are recruiting a Design Manager and a Senior Mechanical Designer to our Lahti office,” says Tommi Juntikka, CEO of NewPaakkola.
Customers value NewPaakkola’s experience in managing and understanding the entire material handling process of production facilities, whether the challenge involves dust control, increasing capacity, or solving operational issues in general. In some cases, the design process starts from the very basics — a feasibility study.
“We haven’t really needed to promote our design expertise, because our reputation has spread among customers. Our strength lies in knowing the equipment all the way from design to manufacturing. That gives us a comprehensive understanding of conveyor systems, which is also reflected in the reliability of our maintenance services,” Juntikka explains.
“It’s great that we’ve found our role alongside our customers. We are not competing with our customers’ or other manufacturers’ design departments — we are there to support them as part of the overall equipment lifecycle,” Juntikka concludes.
NewPaakkola’s design expertise is also growing through recruitment. The company currently has an open position for a Design Manager at its new office in Lahti. The role offers the opportunity to lead a design team, participate in project management, and develop new solutions for material handling in the mining and process industries.
