Material handling solutions and services that ensure the flow of material in the customer’s process under challenging conditions.
Our most extensive system deliveries have been the mining industry’s overland conveyor systems, which bring safety, reliability and efficiency to the long-distance transfer of materials. The longest overland conveyor system we have delivered is six kilometers long, making the longest single conveyor 2.5 kilometers long. In such a large-scale system, technical functionality is the key, as long-distance material transfer is always an operationally critical core process for the entire mine or plant.
In the interim storage of materials, it is important how the piles form after leaving the conveyor. The key factors are interim storage, compartmentalization and homogenization. In the design of radial stackers, we have paid special attention to the classification of the material. For example, a stacker with a 2.5-meter-wide belt designed for port use, transfers 4.5 thousand tons of material per hour to an interim storage 100 meters away. An example of a bridge stacker is a conveyor that piles bioleaching heaps. Here the placement of the side rock becomes important for the smooth running of production.
A fine example of our design expertise is the steep-angle conveyor, which has significantly improved material transfer. The steep-angle conveyor has made it possible for heavy special vehicles to be completely excluded from the material transport chain. Thanks to the innovation, the impact on the environment is minimized and the customer receives direct savings by eliminating one transport step altogether.
The design of the funnel and other structures we utilize takes into account the characteristics of the material to be transported, such as abrasive wear, dustiness or adhesion. With properly designed funnel structures, the material can be directed in the correct flow direction at the loading and unloading points, clogging is prevented and wear on the structures is minimized. Replacing parts subject to wear has been made easy, safe and fast.
NewPaakkola and its predecessors have been supplying conveyors and conveyor systems for various bulk material handling processes in the mining, wood processing, energy and cement industries since 1978. Belt feeders are at the core of NewPaakkola’s expertise; these conveyors are very suitable for a variety of industrial purposes. For example, a feeder with a 2.5 meter wide belt can handle 3.5 thousand tons of material per hour.
